J.C. Lewis Ford customer Jeff Stevenson shows us how he converted his 2019 Ford Transit 250.

When Jeff purchased his 2019 Ford Transit 250 it was only the "shell." Jeff has added a solar power source, kayak rack, gas stove, lights, even a convertible shower, fridge and table for board games. Featuring Ford's EcoBoost, this couple can comfortably travel wherever they please! This setup is decked out with a shower, stovetop, water tank, refrigerator, sink, and it is all solar-powered by 300W solar panels.

The Ford Transit is America’s best-selling full-size van. The Transit gains enhancements across the range that are designed to make the vehicle trusted by fleets, small business owners and families more capable than ever. Cargo-hauling customers will appreciate an increase in the standard rear door hinge opening angle on the 148- inch-wheelbase model, from 237 degrees to 253 degrees, while new chassis cab/ cutaway running boards are now available.

Rear recovery eye is now standard on both cargo van and passenger van. New high-strength laminated side glass is available for some configurations. New seating layouts are available for five-, 10-, 11- and 14-passenger vehicles. D-pillar grab handles are available for all roof heights, while new heavy-duty tray-style floor mats are also available. Fleet customers can option white steel wheels with exposed lug nuts for dual-rear-wheel vans. All color choices carry over.

The Ford Transit is notably one of our most versatile vehicles when a mom, a hiker and a delivery driver can all make work for their work and life. “When we introduced Transit five years ago, it immediately became America’s go-to full-size van for fleets, small businesses and large families,” said Mark Buzzell, Ford director, fleet, lease and remarketing operations. “We listened to our commercial and family customers and updated Transit with useful amenities like standard Wi-Fi so kids or crew can stay connected, and helpful driver-assist features like available adaptive cruise control to take the stress out of traffic.”

New for 2021 model year, America’s best-selling van – Ford Transit – is updated with recreational vehicle and parcel delivery option packages for those who work hard and play hard.

Four new and one improved option packages are available including the updated Motorhome Prep Package for cutaway, the new RV Prep Package for cargo van, new Livery prep package for passenger van XLT, new Parcel Delivery Package for cargo and cutaway, and a new Adventure Prep Package for cargo or crew van. The Motorhome Prep Package now includes Adaptive Cruise Control for added confidence on long trips.

RV Prep Package includes driver-assist features including a side-sensing system and Adaptive Cruise Control, as well as a heavy-duty trailer tow offering so RV-ers can bring along bikes or other toys. Exterior enhancements include front fog lamps to help light up dark country roads. Inside, four-way manual swivel driver and passenger seats are available, as is an eight-speaker sound system.

The Adventure Prep Package bundles together popular camper van options including 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6,. Driver-assist features include Adaptive Cruise Control, reverse and side-sensing systems, and Blind Spot Information System for peace of mind. And when standard technology includes an 8-inch color touch screen with SYNC® 3 and dual USB ports, power point and dual absorbent glass mat batteries, adventure doesn’t have to mean roughing it.

Adventure Prep Package is available with all-wheel drive 3.73:1 limited-slip differential rear axle, heavy-duty front axle and privacy glass There are a number of design refinements for 2021 Transit that provide improved access to the cargo compartment. The manual parking brake on the floor by the driver’s seat has been replaced in all Transit vans up to 9,500 pounds GVWR by an electronic parking brake, creating a 50 percent wider clear aisle between the front seats. An optional center console with right-side shifter further improves walkthrough and offers more than 7 inches of additional driver legroom.

The overhead shelf is now optional, providing more clearance when standing. The new Parcel Delivery Package builds on these walkthrough improvements and adds 50/50 hinged rear doors and wide 253-degree opening and full interior lighting for cargo vans to facilitate early morning and late evening deliveries. The package also includes driver and passenger seats without armrests to further improve cargo access.
