J.C. Lewis One Tank Trips - Jacksonville Beach
Jul 30, 2020 - 2 minute read
J.C. Lewis One Tank Trip Summer Adventure kicked off this weekend. The first trip on the schedule was to Jacksonville Beach. Julian, his wife and three boys loaded in the 2020 Expedition.
The 2020 Expedition has the tech package provided standard and also reintroduced the King Ranch Edition which is perfect for the comforts of the whole family with premium updates inside and out. The Ford Pass Connect provides a hotspot for up to 10 mobile devices which made for a quiet ride to and from Jacksonville Beach from Savannah. The three row SUV with captain's chairs packs perfectly.
There is room for coolers, boogie board, luggage and even more. Jacksonville was a short 150 miles which was perfect for the “no-stop” “no-one gets out until we arrive” family trip.
For us, as a family with 3 young ones, the ability to separate the boys is crucial to road trip success. The expedition’s configuration with captain’s chairs is perfect for that setup. We split the third row with the larger side down (60/40 split) for luggage/storage. Our oldest often opts for the 3rd row, allowing him to be free from the reach of his twin brothers! As you see in the video, we managed to score a nap for the boys on the drive down.
A moment of calm conversation made the whole trip worth it - and we had not even hit the beach yet. Jacksonville Beach had great waves for the boys to put their surf lessons to the test. The beach wasn’t crowded, and we were safely distanced.
Treylor Park was a must try food pick-up as the Savannah based restaurant is a favorite. Pizza from Donato’s is a basic necessity for sitting on the porch and watching an afternoon storm. The running boards were well utilized for the kids when hopping in and out with their gear, the trailer hitch for extra supplies, the roof-rack side rails and leather seats with cooling technology were perfect for the heat.
We had a fun weekend with the boys. A one-tank trip was an easy way to create excitement for the family when our normal activities look so different. Jacksonville did not disappoint and we are glad to be back home safely in Savannah.
