The Terrain Management System enhances the Explorer's off-road attributes. Featuring twin turbochargers, the 3.5 L EcoBoost V6 engine is available in the 2019 Flex and 2018 Explorer. This signature powertrain sends up to 365 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque to the six-speed automatic transmission system that has the traditional SelectShift platform. Both SUVs roll on the Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, and the Explorer's Terrain Management System drastically boosts off-road performance. These versatile vehicles also have the AdvanceTrac technology that provides an appropriate boost on curved roads, hills and other rugged terrains.

Both Ford SUVs are available with up to seven seats that could be easily adjusted for optimum comfort. An automatic climate control system with two zones is standard in these family-friendly models, and climate-controlled front seats are optional in the 2019 Flex. This model also boasts the signature Vista Roof that has multiple glass panels that provide panoramic views of the sky. Several 12-Volt charging ports and a single 110-Volt power station are installed in the Flex and Explorer.
