Spacious enough for eight people, the 2018 Ford Expedition is a full-size SUV that comes in six trims. The 2018 Ford Explorer is a mid-size SUV that's available with seven seats. These reliable cars run on the legendary EcoBoost powertrain and SelectShift transmission. The patented SYNC 3 infotainment system is also set up in the Expedition and Explorer.

Twin turbochargers propel the 2018 Ford Expedition's 3.5 L EcoBoost engine. When running at optimum levels, this V6 engine whips out 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet. When installed in the 2018 Ford Explorer, this six-cylinder engine produces a maximum of 365 hp and 350 lb-ft. Operating on the Ti-VCT technology, a naturally aspirated engine with six cylinders is available in this model. You may also opt for the 2.3 L EcoBoost engine that has an I-4 configuration. This four-cylinder engine has peak ratings of 280 hp and 310 lb-ft. An automatic transmission system with six gears is standard in the Explorer. This classic transmission runs on the traditional SelectShift function. The Expedition comes with an all-new automatic transmission system that has 10 fixed gear ratios.

When properly equipped, the 2018 Ford Expedition has a class-leading towing rating of 9,300 pounds. This powerful SUV is just as capable as some light-duty pickup trucks that are currently on the auto market. You can optimize towing by turning on the Tow/Haul Mode in the transmission system. If you're looking to embark on off-road trips in the Expedition, then get the electronic limited-slip differential for the 4x4 drive system. A robust suspension system with the Continuously Controlled Damping is also tuned for tough conditions. Patented by Ford, the Control Trac technology significantly boosts the 4WD system of this full-size SUV. Similarly, the 2018 Explorer confidently rolls on the Intelligent 4WD, which is suitable for handling multiple surfaces. Installed in both trims, the Terrain Management System also helps you conquer any landscape. Additionally, the Explorer is tough enough to tow a trailer that's packed with up to 5,000 pounds.

The Pro Trailer Backup Assist is one of the most sophisticated features inside the 2018 Expedition. Linked to a rotary knob, this function makes it easy to precisely move a trailer in multiple directions. A 360-degree camera system is also installed in this premium SUV. You can look at the live recordings on the SYNC 3 infotainment system, which features an 8.0-inch LCD display. Of course, GPS navigation with traffic feeds is included in this signature multimedia platform. The 2018 Ford Explorer also offers the SYNC 3 system that delivers directions and other applications. In fact, both models are compatible with the FordPass suite that includes remote services and other digital utilities. A Wi-Fi network and rear entertainment system are some premium amenities that are available in the Expedition. This well-appointed model boasts a 12-speaker audio system by B&O Play.
