There is no one answer for every Ford. For 2026, F-150, Super Duty pickups, Ranger, Bronco and Expedition include a spare. Explorer offers one as an option. Maverick, Bronco Sport, Escape, Mustang and Transit depend on configuration. Mustang Mach-E has no factory spare listed.

2026 Ford equipment
Start with the model, then check the individual powertrain, trim and packages where noted. If having a spare matters to you, verify it on the exact vehicle rather than assuming every version is equipped the same way.
A spare and rear under-frame carrier are standard. The spare is not necessarily identical to your regular road tires, so check its operating restrictions.
2026 F-150 order guideF-250, F-350 and F-450 pickups include a spare, wheel and carrier. Spare-delete and pickup-box-delete options change the equipment on specific trucks.
2026 Super Duty order guideA full-size spare is standard. On a used Ranger, physically confirm the spare and tire-changing tools are still with the truck.
2026 Ranger order guideA full-size spare is standard. Check its size against the trim and tire package, especially when aftermarket tires have been installed.
2026 Bronco order guideA spare wheel and tire are included. The spare uses an 18-inch steel wheel and 265/70R18 tire, which does not necessarily match the regular wheels.
2026 Expedition order guideHybrid FWD XL and XLT include a mini spare. Hybrid AWD and EcoBoost models use an inflator kit unless equipped with the right spare option or package. Tremor, 4K Tow and FX4 include a conventional spare.
2026 Maverick order guideBig Bend, Heritage and Outer Banks offer a mini spare instead of the standard inflator kit. The Class II Trailer Tow Package includes a full-size spare and is standard on Badlands.
2026 Bronco Sport order guideGas configurations offer an optional mini spare. Hybrid configurations, including the plug-in hybrid, include a mini spare.
2026 Escape order guideAn inflator kit is standard. A mini spare replaces it on eligible EcoBoost and GT configurations, with restrictions tied to certain performance, brake and wheel equipment.
2026 Mustang order guideSingle-rear-wheel cargo vans include an inflator kit and offer a spare. Passenger vans include a full-size spare unless deleted. Dual-rear-wheel, cutaway and chassis-cab builds require an individual check.
2026 Transit order guideThe standard setup uses an inflator and sealant kit. The optional 18-inch spare wheel and jack kit, code 76U, replaces it. Moving up a trim does not automatically add the spare.
2026 Explorer order guideThe 2026 Mustang Mach-E has no factory spare listed. Its inflator and sealant kit is also optional under code 60B, so check that the kit itself is present before relying on it.
2026 Mustang Mach-E order guideBuying used? Factory equipment records tell you how the Ford was originally built. A physical inspection tells you whether the spare, jack, tools or repair kit are still with the vehicle. We check both before telling you what equipment you actually have.
Configuration matters
For these models, the model name alone does not tell you which flat-tire equipment is included. The useful next step is knowing exactly what to verify on the vehicle you are considering.
Explorer
If carrying a spare is a priority, check the individual equipment list rather than the trim badge. We’ll verify the optional spare wheel and jack kit and show you where the equipment is stored before you choose the vehicle.
Maverick
FWD, AWD and EcoBoost configurations do not all start with the same flat-tire equipment. Once we identify the drivetrain, we’ll check the package and option details so you know whether the truck has a mini spare, conventional spare or inflator kit.
Bronco Sport
For Bronco Sport, the question is not simply spare or no spare. The available setup includes either a mini spare or, with the appropriate equipment, a full-size spare. We’ll confirm which setup is on the vehicle instead of treating the two as interchangeable.
Mustang Mach-E
Because the inflator and sealant kit is optional, an equipment check needs to go beyond knowing that a repair kit exists for the model. We’ll verify that the kit is actually with the Mustang Mach-E so you know what equipment you have before a roadside problem.
Different model year
The 2025 F-150 Lightning includes an inflator kit as standard and offers an optional spare wheel and tire under code 60S. We’ll check that option separately rather than applying the gas F-150’s standard-spare setup to the Lightning. 2025 F-150 Lightning order guide
Know what you actually have
All three give you a way to respond to certain flat-tire situations, but they do not work the same way.
You have another wheel and tire available. That does not automatically mean it matches the four road tires or has no restrictions. Check the tire label and owner’s manual before driving normally, towing or using four-wheel drive.
A compact spare takes less room and gives you temporary mobility after a flat. Follow its speed and distance restrictions, then arrange service for the regular tire.
The compressor and sealant provide temporary mobility for an eligible tread puncture. Keep the kit complete and check the sealant expiration date. Sidewall damage and blowouts require another solution.
Ford’s sealant-kit guidance prohibits sealing sidewall damage. For instructions that apply to your exact vehicle, use the correct model-year Ford owner’s manual.
Find it before you need it
Storage locations differ by model and equipment. These examples cover several of the setups discussed above. For another Ford or model year, use the owner’s manual for your exact vehicle rather than assuming the equipment is stored in the same place.
Prepare before you need the equipment
Finding the spare is only part of the job. Its condition, the tire-changing tools and the restrictions that apply to the equipment all matter. If your Ford uses a repair kit instead, knowing what that kit can address tells you when you can use it and when roadside assistance is the right next step.
If you already have a spare
Having a spare does not do much good when the tire is flat, the jack is missing or you discover the restrictions after a roadside problem. Before an I-95 drive through Coastal Georgia or a longer trip, check:

If you do not have a spare
Make sure the compressor and unexpired sealant are present, then read the instructions ahead of time. The kit only addresses eligible punctures and provides temporary mobility.
Bring us your model year and VIN. Wheel and brake clearance, tire dimensions, load rating, secure storage and compatible lifting tools all matter before you order equipment.
Use roadside assistance or towing for damage the repair kit cannot address or whenever the roadside location makes working on the tire unsafe.
