J.C. Lewis Ford F-150 Trim Guide
2027 Ford F-150 Trim Levels
What's New Compared With 2026?
See how the eight F-150 trims differ, what changed for 2027 & which configurations make sense for the way you use a truck.
From hauling materials to a Savannah-area jobsite to towing a boat toward the Georgia coast, the Ford F-150 is built for very different demands. Cab styles, bed lengths, engines and equipment packages shape what each truck can do, making the right configuration just as important as the trim badge.
For 2027, the F-150 receives a targeted update rather than a full redesign. Changes to the engine lineup, towing assistance, exterior styling and off-road equipment give shoppers new options to consider alongside the familiar trim differences.
Use the Feature Finder below to see which trims offer your priorities, then explore the comparisons and trim slides to understand the differences in capability, comfort and equipment.

Popular 2027 Ford F-150 Questions Answers in 60 Seconds
How many 2027 F-150 trims are there?
There are eight core trims: XL, STX, XLT, Lariat, Tremor, King Ranch, Platinum and Raptor. Carhartt, STX Lobo, Platinum Plus and Raptor R are special packages or configurations within those trim families, not four additional core trims.
What is the starting MSRP for the 2027 F-150?
The XL starts at $40,155 MSRP*, before destination charges, taxes and applicable fees. Pricing varies by trim, cab configuration, drivetrain and optional equipment.
What changed in the F-150 engine lineup for 2027?
A new 325-hp, 400-lb-ft 3.0L EcoBoost V6 replaces the outgoing 2.7L as the entry engine on eligible XL, STX, XLT and Lariat configurations. The 5.0L V8 also returns as an option on King Ranch and Platinum.
Which 2027 F-150 trims offer a full hybrid?
The 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid is available on STX, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum. Eligible hybrid configurations can also provide substantial onboard electrical power for work or recreation.
Can BlueCruise work while towing?
Yes. BlueCruise with Towing supports hands-free, eyes-on driving on compatible mapped highways in properly equipped 2027 F-150 models with an active plan or trial. Trailer weight is limited to 10,000 pounds or the truck's lower rated capacity, and the driver must remain attentive.
Is the 2027 F-150 Carhartt edition a separate trim?
No. The new Carhartt Package is offered on eligible XLT 4x4 SuperCrew configurations. It adds distinctive workwear-inspired styling and protective interior and exterior details.
How do Tremor and Raptor differ off-road?
Tremor emphasizes trail-ready 4x4 capability for challenging terrain and everyday versatility. Raptor is the more specialized high-speed rough-terrain truck, with advanced FOX suspension and a wider stance. Raptor R adds supercharged V8 power.
What is the maximum 2027 F-150 towing capacity?
Up to 13,500 pounds with the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 and the required towing equipment. Actual capacity depends on the truck's configuration, axle, cargo and passenger load. BlueCruise with Towing has a separate, lower maximum trailer-weight limit.
What's New for 2027
A More Versatile F-150 Without a Full Redesign
Ford updates engines, assistance technology, styling and specialty equipment groups for 2027. The core eight-trim lineup stays familiar, but several real ordering decisions change compared with 2026.
New XLT Package
Carhartt Brings a Workwear-Inspired F-150
- The new Carhartt Package is based on eligible XLT 4x4 SuperCrew trucks—not a ninth core trim.
- Durable interior details, work-inspired trim and bed protection distinguish it from standard XLT.
- Available to order, with vehicles expected at Ford dealerships in early 2027.
Engine Change
New 3.0L EcoBoost Replaces the 2.7L
- Peak ratings remain 325 hp and 400 lb-ft, but the new 3.0L delivers more torque through the everyday-driving range.
- The new V6 is standard on eligible XL, STX, XLT and Lariat configurations. Cab, bed and engine availability still vary.
Hands-Free Assistance
BlueCruise Now Supports Eligible Towing
- Properly equipped 2027 F-150 trucks can use hands-free, eyes-on assistance while towing eligible trailers on approved divided highways.
- Trailer limits, an active plan or trial, driver attentiveness and the truck's own tow rating still apply.
Off-Road Choice
More Accessible Tremor & Raptor Options
- Tremor 400A and Raptor 800A offer their core factory off-road hardware with fewer standard comfort and audio upgrades.
- Tremor also makes its front Torsen differential a standalone option.
Engine & Appearance
V8 Returns to Premium Trims
- The 5.0L V8 becomes available on King Ranch and Platinum again, without replacing their existing engine choices.
- XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum also receive revised grille and wheel treatments.
Equipment & Colors
Revised Packages and Fresh Paint
- The former STX FX4 201A group and XLT 303A High group are discontinued; an FX4 package can be added to eligible STX 200A trucks.
- Birch Sand, Neptune Blue and Wild Green join the paint lineup, with trim-specific availability.
Compare the Lineup
Five Ways to Compare F-150 Configurations
Compare each trim's starting price and purpose, then explore engines, cab and bed choices, cabin comfort, and driving technology. The dedicated section above covers what changed for 2027.
Comparison Topic 1 of 5
Eight F-150 Trims: Roles & Starting Prices
The lineup covers work trucks, street-focused design, premium comfort and two distinct off-road specialties. Starting prices establish the entry point for each trim, not the price of every configuration.
| Trim Level | Core Priority | When to Consider It |
|---|---|---|
|
XL
$40,155 Starting MSRP* |
Work-focused essentials and the widest entry-level cab choices. | Need Regular Cab flexibility or a straightforward work-first truck. |
|
STX
$42,675 Starting MSRP* |
Sporty exterior styling, with STX Lobo and hybrid configuration options. | Want an expressive street look without moving to a luxury trim. |
|
XLT
$46,525 Starting MSRP* |
Versatile comfort and towing-tech packages, including the new Carhartt option. | Want broader package choices for daily use, towing or workwear-style equipment. |
|
Lariat
$57,730 Starting MSRP* |
A more comfortable cabin for frequent driving, while retaining truck utility. | Spend long hours in the cab and value upgraded seating and convenience. |
|
Tremor
$59,975 Starting MSRP* |
Trail-focused 4x4 suspension and equipment, with a lower-entry 400A group. | Regularly encounter rough access roads or trails that call for factory 4x4 hardware. |
|
King Ranch
$66,155 Starting MSRP* |
Signature Western leather and wood trim, with premium comfort features. | Prefer a signature Western cabin rather than Platinum's contemporary design. |
|
Platinum
$69,130 Starting MSRP* |
Contemporary premium appointments and available Platinum Plus upgrades. | Prefer refined comfort with a modern, less traditional interior theme. |
|
Raptor
$75,325 Starting MSRP* |
High-output off-road engineering with an available Raptor R branch. | Prioritize specialized off-road suspension and high-speed rough-terrain performance. |
What This Means: Start with the trim that fits your daily needs, then compare actual cab, engine, drivetrain and package combinations. A lower starting MSRP does not always mean a lower price for the equipment you want.
Comparison Topic 2 of 5
Six Engines With Different Strengths
Engine output and maximum towing belong to specific configurations, not every trim that can order the engine.
| Engine | 2027 Output | Configuration / Best Use |
|---|---|---|
| 3.0L EcoBoost V6 | 325 hp / 400 lb-ft | New base on eligible entry configurations; max tow up to 8,400 lb properly equipped |
| 5.0L V8 | 400 hp / 410 lb-ft | Conventional V8 choice; now available on King Ranch and Platinum |
| 3.5L EcoBoost V6 | 400 hp / 500 lb-ft | Available maximum towing up to 13,500 lb when properly equipped |
| 3.5L PowerBoost Hybrid | 430 hp / 570 lb-ft | Available Pro Power Onboard; generator capability depends on package |
| 3.5L High-Output EcoBoost | 450 hp / 510 lb-ft | Raptor off-road branch; premium fuel for rated peak output |
| 5.2L Supercharged V8 | 720 hp / 640 lb-ft | Raptor R 803A exclusive; premium fuel required for rated output |
What This Means: Maximum tow and payload ratings are independent; you cannot assume one truck achieves every published maximum together.

Cab & Bed Availability by Trim
Compare which cab styles and bed lengths are offered on each 2027 F-150 trim. A checkmark indicates availability in at least one configuration.

Configuration note: Cab and bed choices are shown separately and cannot always be combined. The STX 6.5-ft bed is SuperCab-only; the 8-ft bed is exclusive to XL Regular Cab. Tremor and Raptor use SuperCrew 4x4 with the 5.5-ft bed.
What This Means: Choose the passenger space and bed length you need, then confirm the compatible drivetrain, engine and equipment group for that configuration.
Comparison Topic 4 of 5
Comfort Upgrades Are Not All the Same
Lariat upgrades long-drive convenience; King Ranch and Platinum choose different premium design directions.
| Trim Range | Cabin Priorities | Important Trade-Off |
|---|---|---|
| XL / STX | Practical cloth and durable interiors | STX leans visually sporty rather than fully luxurious |
| XLT | Expanded convenience via 301A/302A | Carhartt is workwear-styled, not a luxury trim |
| Lariat | Heated/ventilated front comfort and ActiveX materials | Premium feel without King Ranch-specific leather |
| Tremor | Trail support with equipment-group choice | New 400A is intentionally more basic |
| King Ranch | Signature western leather and genuine material details | A distinct aesthetic rather than direct Platinum inheritance |
| Platinum | Contemporary premium finishes, available Platinum Plus | Advanced equipment varies by 700A–703A |
| Raptor | Supportive performance-focused seating | 800A saves content while keeping the off-road chassis |
What This Means: Sit in King Ranch and Platinum back to back; material design is a real difference that a feature checklist cannot choose for you.

Overall Rating
#2 in Best Full-Size Trucks
Versatility & Work-Ready Capability Stand Out
MotorTrend gives the 2027 F-150 a 9.1/10 overall rating and ranks it #2 among full-size trucks. Its strongest points are the breadth of cab, bed, engine and trim configurations, capable work-focused fundamentals and a strong range of powertrains.
MotorTrend also points to the new 3.0L EcoBoost V6, expanded V8 availability and BlueCruise towing capability as meaningful 2027 updates. The score comes from its current Expert Review; the page does not present a new instrumented 2027 road test, so it is best read as model-level context rather than measured trim-by-trim performance.

Cab, Bed & Engine Choices
- Regular Cab can pair with a 6.5- or 8-foot bed; SuperCab uses the 6.5-foot bed; SuperCrew offers 5.5- or 6.5-foot beds.
- The available 3.5L EcoBoost and 5.0L V8 expand towing and powertrain choices beyond the standard 3.0L EcoBoost.
Workday Options
- Available FX4 Off-Road Package on 4x4 models, Tow/Haul Package, integrated trailer brake controller and factory accessories.
- An available 36-gallon fuel tank can extend range on eligible SuperCab and SuperCrew configurations.
Real-World Analysis
XL is more than the lowest-price F-150. It is the lineup's configuration specialist: if you need a Regular Cab, an 8-foot bed or a straightforward work truck that can be tailored around payload, towing and fleet-style use, XL is the trim that keeps those choices open.
The modern technology baseline also matters. A 12-inch SYNC 4 display, smartphone integration and core driver-assistance features mean the cabin does not feel intentionally stripped simply because the emphasis is on utility.
Choose XL when cab and bed fit come before appearance or comfort upgrades. Move to STX if you want a more finished street look or PowerBoost Hybrid availability; otherwise, spending more does not automatically make the truck better for a work-first routine.
Trim 2 of 8

STX FX4 Off-Road Package
- Newly available on STX for 2027, bringing factory off-road tires, skid plates and suspension hardware to this lower trim.
- Zone Lighting and LED fog lamps are available equipment on STX rather than universal standard content.
F-150 Lobo Package
- Pairs the STX with the 5.0L V8, 4x4 and a distinctly lower, street-focused appearance.
- Treat Lobo as a street-performance branch, not as the off-road alternative to Tremor.
Real-World Analysis
STX is the F-150 for buyers who want the truck to feel more personal without paying for a luxury cabin. The sport-cloth interior, black wheels and body-color exterior treatment give it a noticeably more finished everyday look than XL while preserving a relatively accessible starting point.
Its powertrain range is a bigger advantage than the styling alone suggests. STX is the lowest trim where PowerBoost Hybrid is available, while the Lobo branch gives street-truck buyers exclusive access to a V8-based STX configuration.
Choose STX when style, hybrid access or the Lobo personality matters more than a long list of comfort upgrades. Move to XLT when you want broader driver-assistance, towing-tech and comfort-package access; choose Tremor instead if your priority is genuine trail hardware rather than appearance.

Carhartt Package
- Available on eligible XLT SuperCrew 4x4 trucks with unique 20-inch wheels, Carhartt graphics and badging, a cowl hood, off-road running boards and a Carhartt-branded spray-in bedliner.
- Inside, the package adds two-tone workwear-inspired seat covers, revised trim surfaces and Carhartt all-weather floor mats.
302A / Appearance & Utility Options
- 302A adds body-color bumpers and Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0; those features should not be treated as standard on every XLT.
- Black Appearance, Chrome Appearance, Bed Utility and other packages let XLT move toward style, towing or everyday comfort without changing trim.
Real-World Analysis
XLT is the lineup's broadest middle ground. It keeps the work-truck flexibility of the lower trims, but opens enough comfort, appearance, towing and driver-assistance choices that many shoppers can build the truck they want without moving into Lariat pricing.
The important decision is not simply XLT versus the next trim; it is which XLT equipment path you need. A 302A truck can add meaningful driver assistance, while Carhartt creates a workwear-themed identity without changing the truck into a separate capability model.
Choose XLT if you want maximum configuration flexibility and are comfortable selecting options deliberately. Move to Lariat when heated and ventilated seating, a 360-degree camera, premium audio and trailer-assistance hardware are features you would rather have built into the trim instead of chasing through packages.

Appearance & Powertrain Choices
- Black Appearance and the new Chrome Appearance Package provide different visual directions.
- The available 3.5L EcoBoost, PowerBoost Hybrid and 5.0L V8 let Lariat stay comfort-focused without forcing one powertrain.
Real-World Analysis
Lariat is where the F-150 starts to feel meaningfully premium every day rather than simply better optioned. Heated and ventilated front seats, premium audio, a 360-degree camera and trailer-assistance systems are the kinds of features you notice repeatedly on commutes, family trips and towing days.
That makes Lariat especially strong for an owner whose truck serves double duty: serious pickup during the week, comfortable long-distance vehicle after hours. Its value is less about a higher tow headline and more about reducing the compromises that come with spending a lot of time in the cab.
Compare XLT first if you are willing to package in only the features you need. Choose Lariat when you want the premium daily-use foundation built in. If trail hardware matters more than cabin comfort, Tremor is a lateral move rather than the next luxury step.
Trim 5 of 8
2027 Ford F-150 Tremor

Available Packages & OptionsTremor 400A | Front Torsen Differential
Factory equipment-group and package rules determine which comfort, technology and off-road items are installed. Verify the exact vehicle's window sticker and latest Ford ordering details.
Tremor 400A
- Ford positions 400A as the capability-first entry Tremor: the core off-road hardware remains, but it uses simpler STX-derived cabin content.
- Compared with higher Tremor groups, 400A drops heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, the B&O audio system, power-sliding rear glass and off-road running boards.
Front Torsen Differential
- Available as a standalone front-axle traction option for 2027.
- It strengthens Tremor's low-speed trail role but does not turn Tremor into the high-speed desert-focused Raptor chassis.
Real-World Analysis
Tremor is the F-150 for buyers who need off-road hardware to solve real access problems: muddy worksites, uneven property, hunting roads, boat-ramp approaches and technical trails. The locking rear differential, all-terrain tires, raised suspension and dedicated trail systems make it fundamentally different from an appearance package on a conventional 4x4.
The new 400A group makes that capability easier to reach by stripping away comfort content rather than chassis hardware. That is a smart trade for an owner who cares more about traction and clearance than heated seats or premium audio, but it can feel sparse if the truck also handles long daily commutes.
Compare Lariat if most of your miles are paved and cabin comfort matters more than trail hardware. Compare Raptor only if you want high-speed rough-terrain performance and its specialized long-travel chassis; Tremor is the more practical fit for slower technical terrain and mixed work/recreation use.

Premium Convenience
- Available upgrades include a head-up display, twin-panel moonroof, power-deployable running boards and higher-output B&O audio.
- Pro Access Tailgate and additional bed-utility equipment can further tailor the truck for frequent loading and towing.
V8 / Hybrid Branch
- The returning 5.0L V8 offers a naturally aspirated alternative to the standard 3.5L EcoBoost.
- PowerBoost adds the highest torque of the mainstream powertrains and available 7.2-kW Pro Power Onboard for owners who value exportable electricity.
Real-World Analysis
King Ranch is not simply the next trim after Tremor; it is a different branch of the lineup. Its strength is combining full-size-truck capability with a cabin that has a strong identity of its own, using Del Rio leather, genuine wood and warm western detailing instead of generic luxury finishes.
It suits an owner who spends substantial time in the truck, wants rear-seat passengers treated well, and still needs towing, bed utility and powertrain choice. The 2027 return of the 5.0L V8 broadens that choice, but the V8 should be selected for its character and configuration fit rather than assumed to be the strongest towing engine.
Choose King Ranch when the western interior is part of the appeal, not merely because it sits high in the lineup. Compare Platinum if you want similarly premium capability with a more contemporary design language; compare Lariat if you want much of the functional comfort without paying for the signature materials.

2027 Ford F-150 Platinum

Platinum Plus
- Platinum Plus is the upper-luxury path within Platinum, adding its own wheel, cabin and appearance treatment.
- Do not assume every feature associated with Platinum Plus is standard on the base Platinum configuration.
Powertrain & Utility Choices
- The returning 5.0L V8 gives buyers a naturally aspirated alternative to the standard 3.5L EcoBoost.
- PowerBoost is the better branch when high system torque and available 7.2-kW exportable power matter more than V8 character.
Real-World Analysis
Platinum is the premium F-150 for buyers who want a modern, technology-forward cabin rather than King Ranch's western character. The standard presentation already feels upscale, while the available Platinum Plus path exists for shoppers who want the most elaborate version of that contemporary theme.
Its strength is that luxury does not force one engine strategy. The standard 3.5L EcoBoost, returning 5.0L V8 and available PowerBoost Hybrid let a buyer choose between familiar V8 character, strong turbocharged towing performance or hybrid torque and exportable electrical power.
Choose Platinum when premium design and technology are central to the purchase. Compare King Ranch if materials and western identity matter more, and compare Lariat if you want many of the same functional comfort and towing tools without paying for the upper-tier presentation.

Raptor equipment groups change comfort and convenience content without changing the model's core high-performance off-road identity. Verify the exact vehicle's window sticker and latest Ford ordering details.
Raptor 800A / 801A
- New 800A removes the head-up display, fog lamps, 2-kW Pro Power Onboard, Mobile Office Package, power passenger seat and under-seat storage.
- It also uses a manual steering-column adjustment and an eight-speaker audio system, while retaining the high-performance suspension and chassis that define Raptor.
37-Inch / Raptor R
- The available 37-inch tire configuration adds more specialized off-road hardware for buyers who need the additional clearance and tire package.
- Raptor R adds the 5.2L supercharged V8 with 720 hp and 640 lb-ft; premium gasoline is specified for rated output.
Real-World Analysis
Raptor is not a dressier Tremor or a more expensive Platinum. Its reason for existing is repeated high-speed rough-terrain performance, using a wider stance, long-travel suspension, FOX dampers, a five-link rear axle layout and Baja-focused calibration that conventional F-150 trims do not share.
The new 800A group is especially important because it separates chassis capability from luxury content. Buyers who care primarily about desert running, washboard roads and aggressive off-road use can get the Raptor hardware without paying for every premium convenience feature that used to come with the model.
Choose Tremor if your off-road use is slower, more technical and mixed with ordinary work or commuting. Choose Raptor when high-speed terrain performance is the point. Raptor R is for the buyer who specifically wants the 720-hp supercharged V8 experience; it should not be justified as the F-150's maximum-towing configuration.
Configuration Note: Standard features refer to the indicated base trim equipment. Available equipment groups, engines and packages can change the equipment shown on a particular truck. Price relationships compare published starting MSRPs, not identically configured vehicles; review the window sticker and specifications for the exact vehicle.
Ready to Narrow the Choice?
Compare F-150 Configurations in Person
Some F-150 decisions are easier to settle in person. Compare cab space, bed access, seat comfort and visibility, then test the camera and trailer-assistance features you expect to use. A drive can also show which engine response and overall setup feel right for your daily routine.
Narrow the Final Choice
Decide What Will Matter Every Week
The biggest F-150 differences show up in how you actually use your truck.
These key comparisons can reduce the shortlist quickly.
XL vs. STX
XL prioritizes configuration flexibility, including the lineup's only Regular Cab and 8-foot-bed choices.
STX adds a sportier identity while opening PowerBoost Hybrid, Lobo and FX4 paths for buyers who want more personality or specialized equipment.
STX vs. XLT
STX keeps the value-oriented focus while emphasizing styling and specialty configurations.
XLT is the more flexible all-around choice, with broader comfort, towing-tech and package options including Carhartt and eligible BlueCruise with Towing.
XLT vs. Lariat
XLT is the practical middle ground with broad configuration and powertrain flexibility.
Lariat is worth the step when heated and ventilated seating, upgraded cameras, audio and everyday cabin comfort will matter regularly.
Tremor vs. Raptor
Tremor is the more conventional pickup for trail access, uneven worksites and technical low-speed 4x4 use.
Raptor is the specialist for higher-speed rough-terrain driving, with a unique long-travel chassis and available Raptor R power.
King Ranch vs. Platinum
King Ranch centers its premium experience on distinctive Western leather, wood and cabin character.
Platinum takes a more contemporary luxury direction and offers the separate Platinum Plus path for buyers who want the highest premium specification.
Choose the Configuration Before the Finish
Set your cab, bed, powertrain, towing and 4x4 requirements first. Then decide whether added comfort, a specialty package or a dedicated performance chassis will improve how you use the truck often enough to justify the step.

F-150 Questions
Answers Before You Choose a Truck
A few engine, technology and package rules can change the configuration you actually want.
Can the new 3.0L EcoBoost tow more than 8,000 pounds?
Yes. The 3.0L EcoBoost V6 has an available conventional towing maximum of up to 8,400 pounds in a properly equipped 4x2 configuration or up to 8,200 pounds in a properly equipped 4x4. Actual capacity depends on cab, bed, axle, equipment, passengers and cargo, so confirm the rating for the specific vehicle.
Does the new F-150 BlueCruise with Towing work on any road?
No. BlueCruise with Towing works on designated Hands-Free Blue Zones and requires a BlueCruise-equipped truck plus an active plan or trial. The driver must remain attentive, and towing use is limited to trailers up to 10,000 pounds or the vehicle's lower maximum towing capacity.
What equipment does the new Tremor 400A remove?
Tremor 400A keeps the defining off-road hardware but simplifies the cabin. Compared with higher Tremor equipment, it uses manual air conditioning, removes heated front seats and off-road running boards, uses a six-speaker audio system instead of B&O, and substitutes fixed rear glass for the power-sliding rear window.
Is the 2027 Raptor 800A less capable off-road?
Not in the way that matters most to its Raptor identity. The new 800A retains the defining high-performance off-road chassis and hardware while deleting some comfort and convenience equipment. The 37-inch-tire configuration and 720-hp Raptor R remain separate higher-level choices.
Does the Carhartt XLT come standard with a hybrid?
No. Carhartt is an available package for eligible XLT 4x4 SuperCrew models, not a hybrid-only trim or powertrain. Confirm the engine, drivetrain and other installed equipment on the specific Carhartt-equipped truck you are considering.
Can I still order an STX FX4 for 2027?
Yes, but the structure changed for 2027. The former STX FX4 201A equipment group is gone, while the FX4 Off-Road Package can now be added to eligible STX configurations. Confirm the drivetrain and equipment group before ordering.
Why do Ford's towing maximums and BlueCruise limits differ?
They measure different things. A properly equipped 2027 F-150 can tow up to 13,500 pounds, but BlueCruise with Towing has its own operating limit of up to 10,000 pounds or the truck's lower maximum towing capacity. A truck can therefore be rated to tow more than BlueCruise is permitted to manage hands-free.
Can I shop specific F-150 trims near Savannah?
Yes. Use the trim-specific shopping links throughout this guide to narrow the F-150 inventory at J.C. Lewis Ford, then confirm the model year, cab, bed, drivetrain, engine and packages on the individual vehicle listing.
