Ford trucks are available in Regular, Extended, and Crew Cab configurations. The bed length varies according to cab style chosen, and some cab styles limit the length of the cargo bed. Choosing the right combination means doing some homework, namely figuring out who will be riding in the cab and how much stuff needs to be hauled.

Below, a few of the cab/bed configuration choices are detailed a bit further. Popular configuration choices for the F-150, F-250, and F-450 are summarized, and this should help the buyer make an informed decision.

F-150 Extended Cab

Also known as the SuperCab, the extended cab version of the bestselling F-150 can be purchased with either the standard 6.5-foot bed length or the 8-foot long bed. The SuperCab has a very large cargo and storage area behind the front seating area, and the cab can seat the driver and two passengers. Six trims are available, from the base XL to the luxurious Limited. All can be purchased with all-wheel drive.

F-250 Regular Cab

The Ford F-250 Super Duty is a larger truck that can haul more cargo and tow more weight than the F-150. It will appeal to the buyer who has a more commercial truck in mind. The Regular Cab can be purchased with either a 6.8-foot or 8.2-foot bed length. This truck is rear-wheel drive but can be purchased with all-wheel drive as well. The cab itself is well-designed for easy use of controls.

The front seat can accommodate the driver and two passengers. The digital display is customizable, so the driver can bring up information on such things as tire pressure of both the truck and the trailer it’s hauling. This model is highly recommended for the worker who needs to bring both the coworkers and a lot of materials to the job site.

F-450 Super Duty Crew Cab

With its dual rear wheels and wide build, this truck takes a back seat to no other model. It’s a powerful vehicle that can tow a pleasure boat with ease. The Crew Cab has four doors for easy entry into the front and rear seating areas. It can seat up to six and still provide enough cargo area in the cabin to stow lunch boxes, tackle boxes, toolboxes, and more. Two-tone leather stitching, power-adjustable front seats, and a 10-speaker audio system are popular options.

Which truck is right for you? It depends on how much you need to haul and how many passengers you’re traveling with. The models described above can be purchased with one of several engines, so horsepower needs to be considered as well.
